What drives the cost of a generation

Reasoning about spend

  1. Draft cheap, finish expensive. Work out composition and prompt on a fast, inexpensive model, then run the final on the flagship. Iterating at flagship prices is where budgets disappear.
  2. Fix the still before generating video. An image generation costs a fraction of a video one. Getting the frame right and then animating it is both cheaper and more controllable than re-rolling video.
